Everybody has their own special memories and even reasons why they love Grandpa Fritz so much. I would like to share mine. From the very moment I met Grandpa Fritz, he felt like family to me. He was always so loving and kind towards me and would get so excited to see me and give me a hug. He made me feel so welcome.
Fritz had lots of stories to tell and something to say in any situation. He loved to crack jokes and laugh. The most fun was always dinner at the Sansone house when Gus would say something crude or "off the wall" and Fritz would just shake his head or throw his hands up as if he's giving up on his serious conversation that he was trying to have. When Fritz was around, people were always laughing, including my own family. Fritz left a lasting impression on my parents and Grandparents even after the first time they had ever met him. I'm so glad they got to know him. Grandpa Fritz is greatly missed.

9/20/08: An Update on Grandpa Fritz: I know many of you have been asking me how Grandpa Fritz has been doing over the last few months. Sadly, the cancer really seems to be sinking in lately and you can hear it in his breathing. Gus and I are going to be with him every chance we get as well as the rest of the family. Please, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, as well as the family in this hard time.

After excruciating pain, doctors found that Grandpa Fritz has many types of cancer. He spent a while in the hospital as well as a nursing home where nurses could look after him. He missed home and the family decided that home is just what he needed. He is now at home with a nurse who comes to take care of him at night. The family is there every day to visit and playing cards with Grandpa. He's on a lot of meds for pain but in otherwise good spirits. We enjoy spending all this time with Grandpa.
