About me: Where do I start?
I'm a wife to a great husband named Gus. I'm a
family person- I love my family: I'm a daughter to my Mom, Anna and my Dad,
Dennis. I recently met my Biological Father named Paul. I'm a granddaughter to
lots of grandparents! I'm a big sister to Allison (13) and Brendan
(11). I'm a friend (I love my friends). My best friends are still my best
friends from high school. I'm an in-law to a wonderful family. Mary and Gus
are my Mother and Father -in-law and Sarah is my Sister-in-law.
And most recently, I'm going to be a mom myself...
Having a family has always been a dream of mine and now Gus and I are
pregnant!
(Random About me Survey Below)
ME: I'm extremely passionate, enthusiastic and over-emotional. I have an ego. I'm happy, I'm sad, I'm a rollercoaster! I love to love, yet with passion comes hate too. I'm opinionated, I've been known to be self-centered at times in my life, and I can be bossy. I'm shy until you get to know me. I'm different than most without even trying... I'm unique. I'm an animal lover and a people lover. I'm a humanist who believes in gay rights and I can't stand ignorant racists. I'm worldly. I'm a friend and I am family- and I'm always here. I am me.
What do I do on my spare time? Well, When I'm not pregnant, my favorite thing is when Gus and I go to Illinois to hang out with my (our) friends. We are drinkers. I love love love wineries too! I also love having friends over.
More About Me: I grew up in a small town called Brighton, Illinois and my family still resides there. My good friends are all still in the area as well with their families now. I go back there as much as possible to see my family and friends. I love going back- it still feels like home to me and brings back a lot of good memories.
Currently Gus and I reside in O'Fallon, MO which is beautiful and I love it here. It's a great place to raise a family and I look forward to doing it here.
My favorite book is Memoirs of a Geisha. I
highly recommend the reading but don't see the movie! They butchered it.
Memoirs was recommended to me by a friend who knew my love of Geishas and
learning about them. I think they are absolutely beautiful and fascinating.
I believe it was about 7 years ago or so that I first saw a documentary on
Geisha on the Discovery Channel and I am still every bit as fascinated
today.
Memoirs of a Geisha is a fictional story about a girl sold by her father
to be a geisha. What is just so amazing to me about this book is how the
author, Arthur Golden, speaks in first person through a 8 year old Japanese
GIRL named Chiyo (later named Sayuri) who goes on to grow and mature into a
woman. You would never know a man wrote this book! A grown-up Man at that!
Chiyo as a young girl is curious like all children, and Arthur Golden really
captures the mind, curiosity, fascination and fear of a young child growing
up. I think it's very hard to think as a child does with such virgin eyes.
If you haven't read Memoirs of a Geisha, you should!
I don't read much but a recent read is: Not on Our Watch by Don
Cheadle the actor. I love Don Cheadle. This book is about the genocide going
on in Darfur, Sudan much like the one that happened in Rwanda in 1993 was
it? in which the U.S. along with Great Britain said we would never let
this happen again, yet thousands of Darfurian people are being killed and
pushed out of their homes by their own Sudanese government. They have
nothing and this is happening Right Now in 2008.... not 1932.
My favorite movie of all time has always been Dances with Wolves. It's been my favorite since pretty much when it came out in the early 1990's! I also love Apocalypto which reminds me in a way of Dances with Wolves, I like Gladiator, Almost Famous, Into the Wild, Boondock Saints, Crash (a Don Cheadle movie), Wedding Crashers, 40 year old Virgin, Old School, and more. I love movies that have to do with the past (worldly, cultural & historic wars), music, and comedies (especially with Will Farrell). Not much of a chick-flick fan!
I grew up as an art lover and went on to study graphic design in college. I do minimal design work at my job. Simple jobs like signage and booklets, but it can be fun. Not much creativity involved but these days I'm not as creative as I once was. I think it's like if you don't use it, you lose it.
About Me (Random) Survey 12/6/08:
2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
Probably Gus and Mary's house when they were out of town. It's
pretty much the only romantic dinner I've ever had. This was when
Gus and I were still "new" in our dating relationship and I fell
asleep on his old bed and he snuck out of the house, went to the
grocery store, came back and made some of my favorite things from
scratch (like chicken strips among other things) and put sprite (my
favorite soda) in wine glasses. We had a candle lit dinner. And to
both of our surprises (wasn't planned), It started snowing heavily
at dinner and it was beautiful outside the windows! (Needless to
say, after dinner, we rushed to clean up and get the heck out of
there before we got stranded!) But I'll never forget that. It was
the one and only time Gus went out of his way like that for me. I
always joke and say, "That's back when he liked me."
3. Last time you puked from drinking?
I can't even remember. It's been almost 8 months since I've even had
a drink and even before that, I usually stick to my beer and wine.
If I puked, it's because I had mixed drinks.
4. When is the last time you got drunk and danced on a bar?
I've never willingly danced on a bar while drunk, however at a
friends bachelorette party, we went to one of the clubs on the
Landing and their bars are lower and made of con-crete for the
purpose of dancing on them. They make you get up there and dance...
so I think I did once for a few minutes just out of politeness to
the bachelorette, but that's not my kind of usual scene.
5. Name of your first grade teacher?
eeek! I can't remember that far back! I don't remember a lot from my
childhood for some reason.
6. What do you really want to be doing right now?
Well I should be getting in the shower and getting my errands
done... but I'm pretty much doing what I really want to be doing
right now: being lazy! Playing with my website!.... wait, wrong
answer. I want to be in the Caribbean and past my pregnancy!
7. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I wanted to be an artist. When I was a teenager, more particularly a
tattoo artist which I still think I'd be pretty good at. My 4th
grade teacher (Mrs. Winslade) once told me that she thought I'd make
a great Hallmark Card Artist...I never forgot that. That would be
awesome. Today, I'm not much of an artist but I do use a tiny bit of
skill that I have left remaining in my design at work.
8. How many colleges did you attend?
2. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go back part-time in the future.
9. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now?
I'm in my PJ's still. I chose it last night because it FIT!
10. GAS PRICES?
Well..... They were almost $4 a gallon and right now are around
$1.55 so I'm not complaining at the moment!!! However, we are still
paying higher prices everywhere else due to gas prices being so high
the past few years. Those prices will never come down. We are in a
dark hole.
11. If you could move anywhere and take someone with you?
I begged Gus to give up our life here to move to the Caribbean! I
just wanted to up and leave! And I was serious! Now that I'm having
a baby... maybe not... but it would be so hard to say no if the
opportunity rose. I don't feel like I belong in the midwest. When I
was a teenagers and young 20's, I wanted to move to the west coast
so bad. Now I want to live by the water- whether it's the ocean or
the Lake of the Ozarks.
12. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
I woke up before my alarm this morning.
13. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
I was watching a movie with Gus (Step Brothers) and fell asleep in
the middle of it so I'm sure it was a funny thought whatever it was.
14. Favorite style of underwear?
Comfortable ones!
15. Favorite style of underwear for the opposite sex?
boxers
16. What errand/chore do you despise?
hah. All of them!
17. If you didn’t have to work, would you volunteer?
Absolutely. I'm always thinking of ways I can help anyways even
though I do have to work.
18. Get up early or sleep in?
Both. Depends on the day and how much sleep I've had.
19. Who is your favorite cartoon character?
Ariel the Little Mermaid. She always was and still is. Maybe she is
the reason I love the Caribbean so much today. ;)
20. Favorite NON sexual thing to do at night with a girl/guy?
Dinner, watch a movie by the fire.
22. When did you first start feeling old?
I started feeling "older" or maybe "grown up" at the age of 22...
definitely by 24.
3. Favorite 80’s movie?
Not sure..... if Gus was answering this question, he'd have a whole
list! He still watches Ghostbusters, Goonies, Karate Kid, Breakfast
Club, etc... and he actually likes them. My favorite is probably the
Never Ending Story!
24. Your favorite lunch meat?
Don't really like lunch meat but occasionally I will have a turkey
or roast beef sandwich. Depends on the day.
5. What do you get every time you go into Walmart?
Mostly bathroom stuff.
26. Beach or lake?
Beach preferably but either will work in the summertime!
27. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual?
Ummm.... I think it depends. Marriage for me is good... Marriage is
definately not for everyone. So my answer would be no for me. I
don't think it's an outdated ritual.
28. How many people do you stalk on Facebook?
I have a facebook account but never check it.
29. Favorite guilty pleasure?
Chocolate? Like most women. And being lazy these days.
30. Favorite movie you wouldn’t want anyone to find out about?
Ummmm.... I really have no shame in the movies I like. Most of my
favorite movies would be "guyish" movies such as Gladiator or 300.
But my all time fav is Dances with Wolves still to this day. Not a
big fan of chick flicks, love most comedies with Will Farrell, and
love tribal and historic war movies such as the ones listed above. I
love Boondock Saints too... one of my favs.
31. What’s your drink?
Ice cold Miller Lite bottle... or a glass of wine. Usually a
semi-dry white or a dry red such as Cabernet. My favorite white is
Stone Hill (from Missouri) White Steinburg. It's very calm, not too
sweet, not too dry and everyone who has ever tried it, likes it! I
give it as gifts sometimes. I also love Stone Hill's Traminette.
It's a semi-dry white with a slight apple flavor to it. Yum! We
order it by the case. But I love lots of wines. Even cheap ones.
32. Cowboys or Indians?
Indians
33. Cops or Robbers?
Cops
34. Who from high school would you like to run into?
Um.... I see most of the people I went to high school with! All you
have to do is go to Alton, haha. Especially going to weddings and
bars... everyone is there!
35. What radio station is your car radio tuned to right now?
Either 106.5 the Arch or 102.5 the Christmas Station. Yeah I'm
cheesy, I know.
36. Norm or Cliff?
Norm!!! (Remember how the bar would all yell, "Norm!!!" when he
walked in the door?) Where everybody knows your name! And they're
always glad you came!
37. The Cosby Show or the Simpsons?
Definitely the Cosby Show. I don't find the Simpsons at all funny.
39. Do you like the person who sits directly across from you at
work?
Yes
40. If you could get away with it, who would you kill?
Hmm... I would be like the guys on the movie Boondock Saints
(another one of my favorites) and kill really bad people. I mean,
really bad people.
41. What famous person(s) would you like to have dinner with?
Oprah, Anderson Cooper of CNN, Don Cheadle (actor), Bono
(singer/songwriter of U2), Chris Martin (singer/songwriter of
Coldplay), Nelson Mandela (former prisoner who later became the
first elected president of South Africa who worked hard to form a
peaceful multi-racial democracy in S. Africa), and there are others,
but these are the people who come to mind first. I would not want to
discuss what they are famous for, I would want to discuss the
different projects and work they've done all over Africa as well as
other places in the world.
43. Have you ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended
purpose?
No.
44. Last book you read for real?
Pregnancy books, A New Earth (not finished)

baby in 2 months.
50. Just how OLD are you?
26
